Canadian rock star Avril Lavigne says non-stop touring has taken a toll on her health and has apologised to her fans for cancelling a show due to illness. Perezhilton.com reports that Lavigne wrote on her blog, addressing her fans. She said: "Hey guys, I am at home right now taking it easy. I have been sick this whole tour and now I have lost my voice. I have never cancelled a show in my whole career and just had to for the first time ever." Lavigne added: "I am so sorry. I have been on the road for 60 days straight. I have had the flu three times and I never get sick, it just keeps going around. I think I am just run down. I just played four shows in a row in Texas and woke up in Vegas with no voice. I thought I was gonna have to cancel that show, but I made it through...barely." |

After playing at the Pearl at the Palms Monday night Avril Lavigne had her official concert after party at MOON Nightclub. She arrived with an entourage of over 20 people and the members of band “Boys Like Girls” who opened for her show. The group took the largest table at MOON Nightclub, adjacent to the DJ booth, dancing doing shots, singing along to the music and generally partying like rock stars until 3:00am. George Maloof even joined them for a couple hours. The table was stocked with Le Tourment Trance Absinthe, Ketel One, Miller Lite, Jack Daniels, Patron, and mixers. Avril stuck to drinking Chardonnay throughout the night but was entranced by the Le Tourment Trance Absinthe display with flames, sugar, and an Absinthe faucet. Source: The Vegas Eye

She may wear skulls and crossbones, but Avril Lavigne would like to make it clear that she's no punk. The Canadian's pop side is in full force on her Best Damn Tour, which comes to Phoenix on Friday at Cricket Wireless Pavilion. "People labeled me punk, and I always said, 'Well, I'm not,' " says Lavigne, 23. "It's just a word that doesn't go well with pop. What is punk? It doesn't even mean anything anymore." Fans can expect the singer's show to be upbeat and playful, complete with dancers and some choreographed moves from Lavigne herself - no mosh pit music here. Here's Lavigne on her positive mind set, life as a newlywed (her hubby is Sum 41 singer-guitarist Deryck Whibley) and her new Abbey Dawn clothing line. Question: Why was it important for you to have a playful attitude this tour? Answer: I didn't want to be so serious, and it really comes down to the record. My last record, Under My Skin, was very midtempo, and it was very deep and dark. On my last tour, I kind of was just over that. I kind of wanted to perform songs like Sk8er Boi that were more fun for me, so I wrote this record, The Best Damn Thing, really fast and playful and not so down. I just had a good time with all the songs, so I get to be like that onstage. I enjoy that more, running around and getting the crowd going. Q: You're a newlywed. How do you make time for married life while you're on the road? A: He's out on tour, and I'm on tour, and it's just been like this our whole relationship, so we're used to it. We just figure out ways to see each other, and we have our time off together. It's all worked out good. Q: How do you think you've evolved the most from when you first started out to now? A: Now, I know the business, and I can pretty much manage, co-manage, my career. I also feel like, on the creative side, I'm more of a performer now, rather than just a singer, because I've spent so much time onstage and doing world tours. I've learned how to be in front of the crowd, how to talk to them, how to work them and how to put a better show together. Q: Tell me about your new clothing line. A: It's called Abbey Dawn. It's coming out of Kohl's for back-to-school in July. It's very me, and I got to design it. I'm excited. I worked with a whole team of people, and I told them what I wanted to do, what I liked, what I didn't like and went through picking tags, fabrics and fits and icons and little images. I approve everything, and I get involved in it all, and it's really fun for me to be able to do something new. Q: Why should people check out the Best Damn Tour? A: It's a lot of fun, and anyone who enjoys having a good time and loves music, it'd be a good show to go to, just really upbeat. It's not serious. Everyone onstage is having fun. It's just like a party. Source: The Arizona Republic

Canuck Avril Lavigne seems to know a thing or two about Southern hospitality. During a concert stop in Biloxi, Miss., Monday, Lavigne teamed up with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and the Make-A-Wish Foundation to give a young fan a taste of the rock-star life. Not only did Kaylin Giroir, a 14-year-old from Louisiana who has muscular dystrophy, get to make an appearance on the red carpet before Lavigne’s concert, but she also got a Fender guitar signed by the musician. Kaylin spent private one-on-one time with Lavigne in her dressing room before she and some family members were escorted to their VIP seats. Source: E! Online

Just Jared (plus entourage) went to see Avril Lavigne in concert earlier this month at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. And it was crazy fun from start to finish! The 23-year-old Canadian singer rocked out on her pink drum set, endeared with her piano-playing and jammed on her bejeweled electric guitar. Avril’s voice also carried beautifully across the coliseum. It sounds fantastic live. If you watch her in concert yourself, you’d be impressed. Just be prepared for excessive amounts of marching and fist-pumping! Ra-ra-ra! The whole night was crazy from start to finish, so I didn’t have time to chat with Avril then. But on Friday, Avril phoned up with Just Jared for a little heart-to-heart. Thanks to all my awesome readers who sent in their hundreds of questions. I asked her a few of them! Avril opened up about her new tattoo, what she eats on the road and what she loves to do on her downtime with Sum 41 husband Deryck Whibley. Here’s how the interview went down (she was calling from Atlanta, GA): (Read Interview) |

And here is part II of Avril Lavigne’s interview with Just Jared. (Be sure to check out part I if you missed it.) (Sidenote: Av was on Arizona’s John Jay & Rich radio show earlier this morning. She gives a brief shout-out to JustJared.com!! Listen here.) JJ: What’s the musical direction of your next album? How are you evolving musically? AL: I would like to sit and and write some acoustic stuff. That’s what I want to do but that doesn’t mean that’s what my record is gonna be. It means creatively, that’s what I want so I need to do that for myself and then I’ll just see. I don’t know, I cant really tell. I’m just touring for six more months and so your body goes through cycles and change so I have no idea. JJ: The acoustic stuff would really showcase your voice, which is fantastic live. AL: I think it would be good to have some of that stuff on the record, just to show people, instead of the song being so all about the track and hiding my voice. But I don’t know about the entire record being like that. We’ll see. Maybe like half. (Read Interview) |

OK, so I'm really not sure what happened to CuteNews, so I deleted it and re-installed it. As for the gallery, we supposedly went over in our web space, I'll have to talk to Sam about it. I do have loads of pictures to add as well. |
